Swinton Community School, Rotherham: Sept/Oct 2009
Classroom teacher and field trip leader of 25 Spanish scholarship students, from Vigo – aged 14/15.
Classroom teaching - 25 hours: 1) improve existing knowledge of grammar, 2) improve pronunciation, stress and intonation, 3) enhance vocabulary, 4) consolidate writing and reading skills, 5) further develop speaking and listening skills, 6) compare and contrast cultural differences, 7) develop cross-curricular links 8) develop intercultural awareness.
Project: 4 page document produced in MS Publisher - Tourism and Public Transport in South Yorkshire.
Introduction to basic design tools and layouts using text and photographs provided by students.
Field Trips – 60 hours: Instructions for crossing roads and personal security and safety. Queuing and manners required for travel by bus, train, tram and coach. Explanation of city maps and introduction to tourist information centres during visits to Sheffield, Rotherham, York and Leeds.
Koyo Bearings (Europe) Ltd – Barnsley: July 2009
40 hours of personal business English tuition with Yann Becker, an employee of the JTEKT Corporation in Dijon, France. The company manufactures steering gear, bearings and machine tools. Business Result Intermediate and purpose made teaching material used. Language taught included grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, production of e-mails, written reports and corporate literature.
Yann works in Customer Relations and was seconded to the Quality Control department at KBE.
The Sheffield College: Nov/Dec 2008
A temporary contract, through Protocol-National, teaching French students aged 12-19 from the Sheffield Centre Football Academy. 60 hours of classroom teaching at mainly elementary and pre-intermediate level using the Success series textbooks. 15 hours supervising city centre tours and travel by public transport to venues in Sheffield and by coach to Old Trafford.
A+ English Private Language School, Sheffield: Aug/Sept 2008
130 hours teaching classes at elementary and pre-intermediate levels using English Result, with IELTS preparation as necessary. I also provided one to one lessons, participated in the summer school programme for students and supervised extra-curricular excursions.
Asuncion, Paraguay: June/July 2008
20 hours private lessons for a senior member of CONMEBOL, the South American Football Association.

Employed initially as a teaching assistant, I soon assumed full responsibility for groups of up to 8 students, of various nationalities and abilities. I conducted initial interviews using DfES tests and prepared lessons for individuals. 60 hours classroom teaching.
